Camera Settings

When I got my first DSLR, I was overwhelmed with the amount of buttons, knobs and dials on the thing.  I knew what sorts of “looks” I wanted to capture, but had no clue which knob or dial to turn to help me achieve it.  If that resonates, you’re in the right place.

I add posts to Camera Settings to serve as your practical field guide to understanding what your camera is actually doing — and how to use its controls to create the photos you want, not just the snapshots you get from Auto Mode.

I focus on the real-world use of exposure, focus, drive modes, white balance, metering, and camera menus — explained in plain language and demonstrated with hands-on shooting examples.

Nothing too theoretical or technical here.  Just clear, usable guidance that shows you what to change, why it matters, and how it affects your final image.

If you’ve ever looked at your camera’s buttons and menus and thought, “I know there’s more here — I just don’t know where to start,” you’re in the right place.
