The Lens Cleaning Cloth I Always Keep in My Camera Bag
A quick guide to the microfiber lens cleaning cloth I trust for all my cameras, lenses, and filters.
After 10 years of shooting professionally, I’ve learned that lens smudges can ruin a great photo. I’ve tried everything from using my t-shirts (do NOT do this–please!), to using car detailing microfiber towels. But the ones I keep in my camera bag now are small, reliable, and safe on my glass.
- Safe for coated lenses
- No streaks
- Doesn’t scratch
- Works on filters + LCD screens + eyeglasses

My Recommendation
I like the MagicFiber microfiber cloths because:
- It’s inexpensive
- It doesn’t scratch (safe on my $2,000+ lenses)
- Comes in a 6-pack (so I can stash them everywhere)
- Works on lenses, filters, screens, and glasses

How I Use It
First, check for dust on the lens. If there’s dust, be sure to use a blower to remove it. Next, wipe the cloth gently in circular motions. Never press hard. Fold the cloth over on itself and do a final wipe to make sure there’s no streaks or smudges.

Summary
This might not seem like a “photography tool”, but trust me–you’ll want one of these handy little cloths in your camera bag. It doesn’t matter if you’re a seasoned pro, or just starting out. Keeping your lenses clean is the simplest way to keep your photos looking sharp.
